ANGRY ADENTAN RESIDENTS GO MAD, BLOCK ROAD, BURN LORRY TIRES OVER RAMPANT DEATHS

Some angry residents of Adentan in the Greater Accra region have mounted a massive roadblock with burning lorry tires in protest against frequent deaths on the Madina-Adentan highway.
 
The residentsâ€™ outburst follows the serial killing by speeding vehicles on the highway due to lack of footbridges. The current road blockade occurred when a speeding vehicle knocked down a student of the West Africa Senior High School (WASS). 

There are conflicting reports on whether the victim is still alive or dead. The irritated residents action has resulted in massive traffic jam on the road for some time now. At the time of leaving the scene, the police were yet to arrive to bring the situation under control.

The residents are accusing the Government of being overly insensitive to the lives of the people in the area especially women, children, disables and the aged who continue to lose their lives to over-speeding vehicles on the N4 Highway due to the unavailability of footbridges.

According to the residents, about 200 members of the community have needlessly lost their lives on the road since its construction some 11 years ago.
