The National Youth Authority has held its Regional Stakeholders Consultation forum to review the National Youth Policy in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua. One of the objectives for the introduction of the Youth Policy is to provide the opportunity for government to engage the youth and other stakeholders in meaningful partnership to develop appropriate interventions and services for youth empowerment. Addressing participants at the forum, the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Samuel Nuertey Ayertey commended the National Youth Authority for deciding to engage all stakeholders in the process of the review of the Policy. He said, Ghana has a large youthful population and it is the duty of government to plan adequately towards emerging them in national decision-makings and development. The National Youth Policy of Ghana which was formulated under the Ministry of Youth and Sports came into existence in August 2010 on the theme "Towards an empowered youth, impacting positively on National Development". The Deputy Regional Minister described the review process at important in order to respond to the challenging needs and emerging issues affecting youth development such as gender and youth with disabilities among others. “Today's youth is dynamic and hence the need to engage them in a more interactive manner” he said.
