We’ll unravel truth about Ya-Na’s death -Nana Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured the Andani Royal Family of Dagbon of his government’s readiness to ensure that all the remaining processes in the Dagbon roadmap to peace are followed to unravel the truth about the death of the late Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II.

This follows a call by Vo-Naa Mahamadu Bawa on Government to continue to do all it could to bring the killers of Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II to justice, so as to bring closure and finality to the matter.

Nana Addo assured that “the events that led to the death of Ya Naa Yakubu Andani can never go away, and whatever needs to be done to unearth the truth has to continue to be done”. I am a firm subscriber to that point of view”.
Addressing the leaders of the Andani Royal Family at the Jubilee House recently (Thursday 27th December, 2018), the President said emphatically that the “criminal conduct can never go away, there has to be accountability for it.”

The law enforcement agencies, he said, would need the co-operation of the people of Dagbon in order to help unravel the truth about the death of Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II.

President Akufo-Addo congratulated the Yoo-Naa, the Kampakuya-Naa, and the elders of Dagbon for their sense of responsibility and statesmanship in bringing the process thus far.
The Vo-Naa, who is Chairman of the Funeral Committee, noted that the Andani Royal Family is ready and willing to commence the funeral rites of Ya-Na Yakubu II tomorrow 4th January, 2019, and complete it on 18th January, 2019.

He also used the opportunity to thank President Akufo-Addo for helping to ensure “a united Dagbon”, and, thus, invited the President to the final funeral rites of Ya-Na Yakubu set to be held on Thursday, 17th January, 2019.

The Committee of Eminent Chiefs mediating peace in the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute have after 12 years of deliberations, concluded that the two faction in the feud- the Abudu and Andani Royal gates- should take turns to bury and hold funerals for the two Chiefs of the gates. The Committee Chaired by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll, presenting the roadmap to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House said he would leave no stone unturned to ensure lasting peace in the area. As per the Roadmap, the Abudu gate would be given access to the Gbewa Palace to perform the final funeral rites of the late Ya Na Mahamadu Abdulai according to their customs and traditions. The funeral rites which have been performed already, lasted for two weeks between December 14 and December 28, 2018, after which the Abudus were evacuated from the Gbewa Palace peacefully. Thereafter, the Andani Gate would take turn at the Gbewa Palace to perform the funeral rites of the late Ya Na Yakubu Andani from tomorrow January 4th to 18th, 2019. Both gates are to stay of the Gbewa Royal palace after the burials until when a new Ya Na is enskinned. The arrangement is expected to pave way for processes towards the enskinment of a new Ya Na for the Dagbon Traditional Area.
