MASLOC boss pushes for NAM1's extradition

Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Stephen Amoah, is pushing for the extradition of the embattled businessman, Nana Appiah Mensah, in spite of government’s failed attempts so far.

Mr Amoah believes the government would be successful in its attempts to do so if it employs dialogue with UAE officials.

“Government should use dialogue and push for extradition of NAM1 to answer critical questions because his customers need to know what’s happening,” he stated.

Warrant for the arrest of NAM 1 was issued on January 9, 2018, over his company’s inability to pay customers.

Reports of his arrest since December 7, 2018, have made the issues surrounding his business complicated.

There are reports he is being held in Dubai at the behest of Horizon Royal Diamonds DMCC over a deal with NAM 1 involving 750 kilos of gold with a street value of about US$51 million.

Ghana Police Service and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) have said NAM 1 will only be extradited after the determination of the case in the UAE.

Mr Amoah told Adom TV ’s morning show, Badwam that even though he would neither blame the previous nor current government, however, questioned why the previous administration failed in doing due diligence on the operations of Menzgold.

“I won’t blame my government for this blunder and neither will I blame Mahama for it but my problem is why the NDC failed to be vigilant on the activities of Menzgold,” he said.
