"Roasted pork" consumed more than chocolate on Val's Day in Sunyani

A post-valentine day celebration checks on the occasion this year and how businesses fared in the Sunyani Municipality revealed there was a field day for drinking spots and beer bar operators engaged in the sale of "roasted pork” last Thursday, as the meat received high patronage among sex partners and merry makers during this year’s chocolate day celebration in the Municipality.

However, the euphoria for the celebration unlike the previous years was below expectations as most churches and organisations preferred to engage their members in one indoor event or another preventing majority of people from pouring onto the street and "painting it red".

Though the general ecstasy which characterised the season in the municipality was extremely not encouraging, beer bar attendants said there was a shortage of “roasted pork“ because of high demand from merry makers and lovers.

When our correspondent visited major drinking bars around 2200 hours, last Thursday to ascertain the level of celebration, the places were filled with a few patrons.

Attendants at “Silver House”, “Stamford Bridge”, and “Dreamers Joint” situated on the shoulders of the Sunyani-Abesim highway said patronage of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were poor. But, they observed that their daily sales were increased because of the high patronage of roasted pork.

Sale of chocolates also soared especially in the urban areas of the Sunyani municipality.
Meanwhile, patronage of condoms and contraceptives was also poor, as many of the pharmaceutical shops visited in the municipality claimed they recorded low sales.

Shop attendants at Green light, Seinti Chemist and Mossay Pharmacy told our correspondent that sales in condoms were good last season, but added that public demand for female condoms in particular still remained low.
