Akua Donkor accuses Mahama of 'swindling' her

The Founder of the Ghana Freedom Party’s (GFP), Akua Donkor has revealed how she was ‘swindled’ by the former President and 2020 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama in her desire to own a three bedroom house within his [Mahama’s] flats at Sakumono.

According to the strong supporter of Mr. Mahama in the 2016 elections, she offered ‘gold’ in exchange of the house within the flats because she could not readily afford to buy a land at Sakumono.

Speaking on Kasapa News, Madam Akua Donkor did not only describe Mr. Mahama as ‘wicked’ and ‘dishonest’ but urged Ghanaians not to put their trust in him.

She said she had regretted and felt ashamed for spending her energy and resources over the years to campaign and defend him.

“I’ve suffered a lot because of John Mahama, I’ve gone through hell because of my support for him. But now he’s stabbed me in the back and I regret ever campaigning for him. I feel so bad that I just can’t forgive myself.”

The proud farmer who made history in Ghana’s politics as the first ever uneducated woman to contest as President, Madam Akua Donkor said she now had different perception about Mr Mahama after he denied her access to that house at Sakumono, which she claimed she supported him to build for her.

“I told John Mahama that I don’t have money to buy land at Sakumono so when he started building the flats which at the moment is twelve floors complete at Sakumono, I gave him gold in exchange of a house within the flats. He later asked some persons to lead me to the flat and show me on which floor I’ll be staying and I later told the whole world that Mahama had given me a house. I stay in a hotel whenever I come to Accra so a few days ago, I decided to move into the house at Sakumono, but Mahama sent some people to stop me and turned round to tell me that President Akufo Addo doesn’t want me to stay in that building. That day I had to sleep on the compound of the MPs flat till the next day".

However, the revelation by Madam Akua Donkor seems quite strange as she had earlier revealed that the then President Mahama had presented a mansion at Sakumono and two Mitsubishi Pajeros to her, which even angered most NDC faithfuls.

Madam Donkor said President Mahama gave her the two vehicles after the flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, took his Tundra vehicle from her, and also gave her the house after fire gutted her residence.
