NDC is in deep crisis -Allotey Jacobs

The Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs has said that the party is in serious crisis giving the way the affairs of the party [NDC] is being managed, especially the leaked audio.

He is asking the National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo to gather the courage to speak to ‘Ghana’ and clear himself of any negative tags. Speaking on UTV ‘Adekye nsroma’, Mr. Allotey Jacobs described Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo as a fine gentleman and believes the comments on the audio tapes were uncharacteristic of him.

He emphatically advised the embattled NDC National Chairman to act fast by accepting responsibility, apologize or explain himself to Ghanaians and ask for forgiveness, if the need be.

He was of the view that the content of the audio if not properly handled would affect the chances of the NDC and President John Dramani Mahama in the coming election.

he blamed the woes of the NDC on those he called the young chaps in the party whom he said were not ready to listen to wise counsel.

Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has been invited by the Police CID for alleged wild comments contained in a number of audio tapes going round the social media which revealed some plots by the opposition party to use its communicators to wage relentless war on the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensah and the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Emmanuel Asante.

He encouraged them to make perfidious and wild comments against them other important persons in society who do not support the NDC and make them feel their lives were in extreme danger in order to humble them.

The NDC National Chair was heard saying, “I think that in this whole thing, we should not focus so much on the IGP [Inspector General of Police] because a police woman called me and said as for them they regard the IGP as a civilian, because he has been tied and only there as caretaker. So we must situate the communication on the president, who is the Commander in Chief and controls the security of this country; how he has shown his true colors as violent person because we will trace antecedent gradually from when he became a flagbearer and what he did to his own chairmen and others and created the culture of silence and beat people up and did all sort of things and has brought it into government. We need to expose him so that tomorrow as my brother said if NDC decides that we are also organizing ourselves which of course we are going to organize and organize well, then gradually we have shifted the attention onto the NPP. In fact when people even hear of violence in by-elections they will be thinking it is the Invisible Forces and NPP, then we cleverly do our own things”.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo said “For the first time, I will endorse insulting the National Peace Council Chair,” which attracted massive cheers from the NDC Communicators”. He added that, “The party itself is also going to come out with a number of policy initiatives. First, we’re going to set up a Security and Intelligence Unit within the party and appoint National Coordinator, Regional and Constituency Coordinators. We will be picking some of our intelligent people; BNI people, National Security people and others, so that we can read and plan effectively”.
