Minister charges Dagombas to own, sustain peace for more development

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed has unveiled Government’s readiness to bring massive development to Dagbon, on the condition that the chiefs and people would do everything within their power to own and sustain the prevailing peace in the area.

According to him, there was no opportune time than now for the people of Dagbon to attract the needed development and investors to the place, especially with the level of commitment, love and dedication being shown by the current President Nana Akufo-Addo toward the peace and development of the Dagbon Kingdom.

Speaking at the 2019 Northern Excellence Awards ceremony after he was honoured alongside the President, Nana Akufo-Addo for their contributions to the peace in the region, the Regional Minister hinted that his administration with the backing of the President was initiating several moves to attract more local and foreign industries, businesses and investors to Dagbon to cover up the over 17 years of chieftaincy conflict.

He therefore cautioned the people against any conduct that would be detrimental to the progress of Dagbon in particular and the region at large.

Mr. Salifu Saeed has inarguably gained the respect of many Ghanaians home and abroad and most especially the chiefs and people of Dagbon after impartially and evenhandedly leading the processes for the implementation of the Dagbon peace roadmap, which has seen the performance of the funerals of the two late Ya-Nas and the subsequent installation of the new Ya-Na.

The Regional Minister called on all the sons and daughters of Dagbon to support the new Ya-Na, the Mion lana and the Yoo-Naa to consolidate the gains.

“Dagbon has gotten peace, nobody should doubt it. So let’s own the peace because investors are ready to come to Dagbon. And when we do that the poverty we have here will be a thing of the past”.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Lady, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, former Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr. Issahaku Abdul Nasir, former Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Otiko Afisah Djaba, the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, Deputy Energy Minister, Dr. Mohammed Adam Amin, Mr. Alhassan Mohammed Awal, Executive Director of NORSAAC and others were honoured by Nexa Media, organisers of the Northern Excellence Award.
