Otiko Djaba wins Excellence Award as Disability Advocate for 2019

The Executive Producer of the Let’s Talk Ability Show on TV3, Otiko Afisah Djaba has received another prestigious award as the Disability Advocate of the Year 2019 at the Northern Excellence Awards held in Tamale.
 
The award was in recognition of Madam Djaba’s remarkable strives in the “fight” for the rights, inclusion and welfare of Persons With Disabilities in Ghana, through the Let’s Talk Ability TV Show on TV3, among other accomplishments by her Henry Djaba Foundation.
 
The Awards ceremony was organised by NExA Media, a special initiative put together by the Celebrities Charity Development Foundation in-collaboration with Ghana Tourism Award winners; Smile Multimedia Agency and partners to annually recognize and honour distinguished personalities from Northern Ghana who have positively contributed to the development of the area and Ghana at large.  

In her remarks after receiving the award, Madam Otiko Afisah Djaba also the Executive Director of the Henry Djaba Foundation expressed appreciation to the organizers of the award scheme for recognizing her support and advocacy for persons with disability. 
She dedicated the award to all persons living with disabilities in Ghana and beyond.

“It is an honour to be recognized by my own people for my immense contributions towards the welfare of PWDs in the society. My father became disabled with stroke before his death, so I am passionate about the wellbeing of PWDs because it is not their fault to be disabled. Anybody can become disabled either by birth or accident or old age so there is the need for all of us to join hands together in ensuring the rights of PWDs are respected,” Madam Otiko stressed. She however made a clarion call to organizers of the Ghana’s Independence Day Parade to always involve PWDs in activities marking the celebration. Other notable NExA award winners included the Former President of the Republic of Ghana, H. E John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, H. E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Second Lady of Ghana, H. E. Hajia Samira Bawumia, Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Salifu Saeed, Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Nashiru Issahaku and CEO of NPA, Hassan Tampuli among others.
