Date: Thursday March 14, 2019, 2:33 pm

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is said to have besieged the palace of the newly enskined Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II, demanding him to take 'uncustomary decisions' of enskining new Chiefs.

The Ya-Na is believed to be currently under severe pressure from government to appoint pro Abudu members to titles within the Dagbon State.

President Akufo-Addo allegedly sent a high-powered delegation to the Ya-Na to twist his hands to do his bidding, a tendency our source feared is likely to undermine the Dagbon peace process.

The Source close to the Gbewaa Palace indicates that the Ya-Na has been an unhappy man for some days now with this new developments.

The source who pleaded anonymity indicated that he was not authorised to speak to the press on the issue.

He revealed this development will soon raised tension in Dagbon and likely to reignite the age-old chieftaincy conflict which many people think was resolved by the Otumfuo Mediation Committee.

According to the source, government has listed 10 towns (Paramouncies) and demanded the Ya-Na to surrender to them to the Abudus which they are allegedly unqualified to occupy per the Dagbon custom.

The government on Sunday March 10, 2019, sent a delegation to Yendi to force the Ya-Na to enskin one Abukari as the chief of Diare.

The said gentleman is a son of a former Regent of Diare believed to be responsible for the insecurity in the Diare area for a long time.

This posture by the government to micro manage the Ya-Na according to the source will heighten tension within the Kingdom…….More to come.
