Ya-Na to stage ‘majestic’ appearance at Otumfuo’s 20th Anniversary in Kumasi

The Overlord of Dagbon Kingdom, Ya-Na Abubakari Mahama II will make his first major public appearance outside his jurisdiction, as he joins a host of other prominent Chiefs in Ghana and beyond to commemorate the twenty (20) years anniversary of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Saturday, WatchGhana.Com has filed.

A source close to the Gbewa Palace in Yendi said the Ya-Na has been officially invited by the Ashanti Kingdom to grace the all-important occasion, which marks the 20 year rule of the Ashanti King.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who is the Chairman of the Committee of Eminent Chiefs that mediated and developed the Peace Roadmap that led to the enskinment of Ya-Na Abubakari Mahama as the King of the Dagbon State, would be proud to see an enthusiastic Ya-Na and his followers gracing the occasion.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, there was rumour that the King of Dagbon, Ya-Na, who was installed some few months ago had died in Accra.

This turned out to be false, after the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed paid the King a visit at his private residence in Accra to mollify the fears associated with the death rumour.

The Spokesperson for the Ya-Na has also come out publicly to allay the trepidation that gripped the sons and daughters of Dagbon and majority of Ghanaians. He maintained that the Ya-Na’s visit to Accra which sparked the death rumour was to engage businesses and other investors on the numerous investment potentials in the Dagbon Kingdom. Though the PRO admitted that the King took advantage of the visit to undergo his routine medical checks, it was thus needless for some faceless people to wish him dead. “Ya Na’s visit was purposely to establish links and make the kingdom attractive to those who will want to invest or come and help develop the area”. Based on the wild rumour, the King according to the PRO could not accomplish his mission, but had to return immediately to dispel the rumours and the negative effects it could have on his people. He also affirmed the King’s preparedness to join Otumfuo in his celebration on Saturday.
