Ashant Region Police launch manhunt for kidnappers of Indian businessman

The Police in the Ashanti region have launched manhunt for kidnappers who kidnapped Indian businessman at Ahodwo Nhyiaeso in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region.

Om-Parkash Chudry, 31, was kidnapped on Thursday April 25, 2019 around 5:00pm at Ahodwo Nhyiaeso.

He struggled with the kidnappers, overpowered them and ran to hide at someone's house at Akokoamon near Pakoso in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.

He called the police and was later rescued Friday, April 26, 2019.

He has been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
Three unidentified men in an unregistered Toyota Salon vehicle at gunpoint forced the victim who was driving a black, Mazda CX-7 with registration number AS 5442-17, into their vehicle at Ahodwo and sped off. 

Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyo told the media at a press briefing that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of $500,000 to be paid through bitcoin but the money was not paid to them.

He said the kidnappers managed to escape but the command is doing it best to get them arrested.

The PRO appealed to the general public to give the police credible information about such miscreants in the society.
