The Communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has vehemently stated that the National Chairman of his party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo would never honour the invitation from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo has been cited as the suspected protagonist in the inexplicable fire outbreaks and the precarious kidnappings of innocent Ghanaians in the country. A letter from the Police CID inviting the NDC National Chairman, Ofosu Ampofo stated that “some persons picked up for interrogation and investigation have mentioned your name as part of a grand scheme designed to cause fear and panic in the country.” As a result, the CID officials have summoned Mr. Ofosu Ampofo to report at the CID headquarters today, Thursday, May 9, at 2:00 pm. However, the Communications Director of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi in a live studio discussion on Adom TV’s Badwam show with Omanhene Kwabena Asante dropped the bombshell that the party Chairman per the position of the NDC will not honour the CID invitation. According to him, there was no way the NDC would fall for the mischievous and deliberate ploy by the CID Boss, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah to tag Mr. Ofosu Ampofo as criminal. Describing the CID Boss as most corrupt police officer who is only doing the hatcher’ job for the ruling Government, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi indicated that the NDC would use every legitimate means to fight the government’s oppressors’ rule. Why is the new information crucial? A leaked recording of an alleged meeting of top NDC members hit the media on February 27. In the audio, a voice alleged to be that of the NDC Chairman is heard among other things scheming to kidnap political opponents. “...Nobody has slept in his house. They even went to attack traders [and] some Imams had to come and plead for them. People will also start capturing your mothers and fathers and keeping them hostage until you show yourself up. So we need to go back quickly to the drawing board and strategise,” he laid out his plans to the audience alleged to be NDC communicators. Ofosu Ampofo and the NDC have since denied any wrongdoing relating to the contents of the leaked tape. According to the party, government bugged their offices and got a recording and doctored same. The police have since arraigned Mr Ofosu Ampofo over the contents of the tape. The case was adjourned to May 27 on Monday. The Defense said they were served with the evidence late prompting the adjournment.
