Henry Djaba Foundation urges Ghanaians to vote for women & PWDs in Assembly's elections

The Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation has called for the support of all Ghanaians  for women and persons with disability (PWDs) in the December 17th 2019 District Level and Unit Committee elections.

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Hon. Dr. Otiko Afisah Djaba wooed all the 51.2% women and 3.0% of disabled population to vote for all the 909 women and 20 persons with disability contesting in the upcoming assembly elections.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the 2019 International Day of Persons with Disability held in Accra, Hon. Dr. Djaba also wooed all Queen Mothers across Ghana to campaign for the women aspirants in their localities for massive victory.

The Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection who had been advocating for the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill into Law called on Government, political parties and other organisations to consciously allocate certain percentage of appointments into leadership positions.

She condemned the incessant abuse, marginalization and stigmatization against women and persons with disability in Ghana.

Calling for women to be placed at the centre of Ghana's social, economic and political development, Dr. Otiko Djaba said women must be limited to cooking, washing, cleaning  or managing the home.

The Chairman of occasion, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh encouraged women and persons with disability to have confidence in themselves and step out to achieve their dreams.

He also encouraged the women and persons with disability to educate themselves to become more competitive in the assemblies or any position they find themselves.
