Ben Ephson is Armchair Pollster...Social Media Commentators

The Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Mr. Ben Ephson has come under serious condemnation from some social media commentators for feeding Ghanaians with untrue and fabricated poll results most often.

Describing him as armchair pollster, the commentators said Mr. Ephson has far since lost his credibility and trust of Ghanaians after most of his polls have proven to be incorrect.

“Now Uncle Ben Ephson is losing his credibility, the media should blacklist him. Why should he predict victory for Koku Anyidoho for it to fail, after predicting 52% for former President John Dramani Mahama and he ended up scoring 44%. Has he forgotten or he just wants popularity?”.
“He has lost it totally”.
“Why, do you fear him? He is not credible.”

“Masa leave that man he does armchair research. In 2008 my analysis was far accurate than his. Yet some media houses failed to reach me but they rather kept calling him”.
“Hahahaa”.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ben Ephson for many years has been under a lot of attack following his presidential predictions which are considered controversial most of the times.

But Ghana’s lead private pollster remains unperturbed by the disappointments or failures he mostly records.

The Pollster ahead of the NPP National Delegates Congress predicted that Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as Nana B, who was vying for National Youth Organiser position would not have a chance against his main contender, Dominic Eduah, as a result of the party’s decision not expanding the electoral college.

“Nana B is a likeable aspirant and has massive appeal on social media and all that but I tell you the effect of the electoral college will hit him hard. He’ll be disfavoured by the NPP’s decision not to open up the electoral college.” he said on Kasapa Fm in Accra.

In 2016, the pollster published that the NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama would credit himself with 52.4% of the votes while his closest opposing rival of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would garner himself 45.9% of the total votes cast.

Ben Ephson also said that all the remaining 5 aspirants would not have any significant contribution to the poll as all their votes combined would account for only 1.7% of the votes cast.

However, his opinion poll result in 2016 was far from the truth as the opposition candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo overwhelmingly defeated the then ruling party candidate, John Mahama.
