Constituents of Nadowli/Kaleo Pick Presidential Primaries Form for Bagbin

Some indigenes from the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency of the Upper West region, yesterday stormed the National Democratic Congress headquarters at the eleventh hour to pick the presidential nominations form for their legislator Hon. Alban Kingsford Bagbin. The group was led by David Banye Jawara a known loyalist of Alban Bagbin who is also the first ever constituency youth organizer for the NDC in the Constituency.

Speaking on W93.5FM’s Wake up Upper West, David Jawara indicated that, they share in the vision of Hon. Alban Bagbin to become president of Ghana on the ticket of the NDC. “Our MP is a presidential material and we are supporting him to rule this country. We know what he can do” He emphasized.

David Banye Jawara and his colleagues from the constituency are of the view that much as the Second Deputy speaker has reservations on picking the forms due to the cost of filing fees, they are optimistic the party will have the issue resolved so he can contest. “We are willing to raise the filing fees for Leader Alban Bagbin and we know he will heed our call and contest” he added.

He expressed optimism that the longest serving MP in Ghana’s parliament Hon, Alban Bagbin will heed the call of his numerous constituents and contest the upcoming NDC presidential primaries.

Hon Alban Bagbin and some of his colleagues are not enthused about the cost of filing fee set by the national executive committee of the NDC and hence petitioned the national council of the party whose outcome they still await.

Alban Bagbin and Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah do not also rule out fighting their case with the party in court if the filling fee is not reviewed downwards.

The NDC last week Thursday announced cost of nomination forms as GH 20,000 and GH 400,000 for as filing fee totaling GH 420,000. These pronouncements caused some interested aspirants to register their displeasure over the fees and had petitions written to the party’s council of elders.
