N/R Minister to receive peace excellent award

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed has been nominated for the Northern Excellence Awards following his outstanding performance in office and contributions towards peace building in region.

Scheduled to take place on March 6, 2019, the maiden edition of the Northern Excellence Awards night is expected to honour Mr. Saeedâ€™s remarkable performance especially the role he played in restoring peace and unity in the Dagbon state.

The Minster played a critical role to ensure the performance of the funeral rites of the late Ya-Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani II and Ya-Na Mahamadu Abdulai IV between December 2018 and January 2019 and the subsequent enskinment of a substantive Overlord, Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II.

Hitherto, Mr. Salifu Saeed also facilitated measures and supported the people of Nakpanduri in the now North East Region to end the ethnic conflict between Konkombas and Bimobas. As a result, the Chiefs and elders in the community held a blood burial and committed to peace never to fight each other.

He also served as a conduit of peace between the Chiefs and people of Kafaba and Kalapor in the East Gonja Municipality in the now Savannah region when communal violence ensued in the area.

He has been able to maintain law and order in the once troubled northern region since assuming office as the Regional Minister in 2017.

The Northern Excellence Awards is an initiative of the Celebrities Charity Development Foundation (CeChaDeF) to recognize the significant contributions of some individuals and organizations operating in the northern region and Ghana at large.

Additionally, the Ministerâ€™s prowess ended the media war amongst the Islamic Scholars during the 2018 Ramadan at their various centers where they give sermons to the populace of Tamale. He constituted a committee comprising members from the various Islamic faiths to monitor the local airwaves for punitive sanctions to be taken against anyone found culpable of any hate speech.
