OLAM Ghana donates TV, repaints School Feeding Secretariat

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) National Secretariat has received a 65 inch Samsung UHD television from OLAM Ghana in Accra.

The donation forms part of OLAM’s contribution towards the enhancement of the programme as it currently benefits close to three million school children in deprived schools across Ghana.

OLAM Ghana also repainted the entire GSFP office building (National Secretariat) to give it a facelift at an undisclosed cost.

Receiving the television on behalf of the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison, the Acting National Coordinator of GSFP, Dr. Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah expressed gratitude to OLAM Ghana for the gesture.

According to her, the presentation of the TV to GSFP does not only serve as motivation to the management and staff of the programme, but explains how individuals and organisations in Ghana have recognised importance of the programme.

Dr. Mrs. Quashigah assured the management of OLAM and people of Ghana that the managers of the school feeding programme led by the sector Minister, Cynthia Morrison will ensure it is well managed, expanded and sustained to benefit more Ghanaian children.

Earlier this year 2019, the Acting National Coordinator of the GSFP called on corporate Ghana, religious and civil society organisations, and other private business establishments to support the Government to effectively and efficiently run the programme.

Since its establishment the Ghana School Feeding Programme has spurred school enrollment and retention at the basic levels.

About 80% of food items used by the caterers of GSFP are sourced from local farmers with the strategic aim of reducing poverty among the farmers.
