Ghana records 17 fire outbreaks in four days- Fire Chief reveals.

The Chief Fire Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Mr Edwin Ekow Blankson, has disclosed that seventeen fire cases have been recorded within the last four days nationwide.

He said the major fires among is the kumasi central market and Asafo market fires.

Mr Blankson made this known in an interview with the media when he visited the Kumasi central market and Asafo market fire scenes to assess the extent of damage caused on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

A fire outbreak on Easter Saturday night destroyed several shops at the Asafo Market in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital less than a day after a similar incident was recorded at the Kumasi Central Market.

He said a three member committee, led by Director of Operations at the Ghana National Fire Service, DCFO Kwaku Manu Afful, has been set up to investigate the Asafo and Kumasi Central market fires.

He advised Ghanaians to report fire outbreaks early for a swift response since their service is free.

Mr Blankson asked Ghanaians to report any fire service personnel who demand money in return of fighting fire to the authorities of the Ghana National Fire Service.
