Court remands 4 illegal miners arrested in Desiri Forest Reserve

The Tepa Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region has remanded four illegal miners who were arrested by the Officials of Forestry Commission at Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South-West District.

They were arrested while mining in the Desiri Forest Reserve in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo region under the Mankranso Forest District.

Nkoah Michael, 34; Agyemang Duah, 40; Simon Amponsah, 31; and Akwasi Agyare 40 were arrested on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Mr Godwin Agyemang, Mankranso Forest District Manager, told WatchGhana.Com Regional Correspondent that the illegal miners were sent to Tepa Circuit Court on May 14, 2019 and have since been remanded into prison custody.

They are to reappear before the court presided over by His Lordship Johnson Abbey on May 28, 2019.
