2020 Parliamentary Election: PNC, CPP, PPP to present one candidate in each constituency

Three Nkrumahist parties in the South Dayi Constituency will present one candidate for the 2020 parliamentary elections. The decision was announced at a press conference held at Peki Avetile on Thursday by the three parties.

Their decision is part of a grand scheme to ensure that the Nkrumahist parties in all the 275 constituencies present formidable candidates to increase their chances and become the third force in Ghana's politics.

Addressing the press, Explo Kofi Nani a member of the unity executive committee of the three parties said, "though we know the forces that have been working against the unity of the Nkrumahist parties will not stop their disruptive agenda, we are convinced we shall triumph".

Explaining why they took the decision, Mr. Kofi Nani said, "In south Dayi, after having observed that at various times since 1992 to 2012, between 30% and 40% of the electorate have voted for the Pro-Nkrumah political parties during the parliamentary elections, the South Dayi CPP adopted a resolution at its 2015 congress to have a unity candidate to contest future elections".

He added that the resolution led to CPP and PPP fielding Felix Lartey as a unity candidate in 2016 elections which saw the candidate making huge strides in that election.

Also speaking at the function, the National Chairman of the PNC Bernard Mornah who has been pushing for the unity of the Nkrumahist parties pledged to do whatever is possible to ensure the national unity of the front.

He said, " I am willing and ready to cede my position of Chairman of the PNC to ensure that we come together . As the bottom is uniting, it is incumbent on us as national officers to follow suit".

Mr. Mornah used the opportunity to urge the leadership of the Nkrumahist parties to eschew suspicion . According to him," the suspicion that Nkrumahists are in bed with the two leading political parties, NDC and NPP , us not helping in the unity process of the tradition".
