An aspiring Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Asante Akyem South Constituency, Mr Eric Amofa has expressed utmost dissatisfaction about the level of socio-economic and infrastructural development in the Constituency.
According to him, the constituency in spite of all the natural resources and other opportunities available had been lagging behind her peers i.e. the Asante Akyem North and Asante Akyem Central, which he said could largely be attributed to bad leadership.
Speaking in LIVE studio interview on Okwawu FM’s “Ghana Te Sen” morning show, Mr. Eric Amofa said the time had come for Asante Akyem South to rise above its contemporaries and uplift herself into an archetypal Constituency.
The Former Banker, Qualified Social Workers and Deputy Organiser of the NPP in UK said the level of evidential poverty, deprivation and the lack of infrastructure in the area makes it extremely necessary for the people to entrust their destiny in the hands of a vibrant visionary, dynamic, committed, competent and selfless leader like him [Eric Amofa] come 2020.
He promised to address the major issues of youth unemployment, inadequate health, education, water and sanitation infrastructure. This he indicated will be done by working in partnership with NGOs from abroad and also bring on board more investors to create more jobs and modernize agriculture, which is the main occupation of the people.
Mr. Eric Amofa who acknowledged the good works President Akufo-Addo has done to improve the road network in the constituency, also promised to bring in modern equipment to support Cocoa farmers in the area to improve on their farming business.
The Founder of the NPP in Nottingham-UK is also promising a most attractive and united NPP in the Asante Akyem South so as to rake in more floating voters and increase the electoral margin for massive victory in the next general elections.
The Aspirant who has promised to work closely with the party structures especially the grassroots base, is currently organizing a two-week skills training in hand sanitizer, liquid soap, hair cream and disinfectant making for all the over 750 polling station executives of the NPP in the constituency. The training which will commence from 2nd -16th May, 2020 is meant to empower the party activists to become self-employed and economically independent. He said that over 1000 hand sanitizers, 1000 liquid soaps and 1000 nose marks will be distributed to all the trainees and their families as part of his continuous efforts to fighting the Coronavirus.
On the other hand, Aspiring Member of Parliament rubbished the claims by his detractors that he is too young to become an MP.
Mr Amofa stated emphatically that, becoming an MP has nothing to do with age but the competency and the capability of the person is what matters most.
He further noted that the Asante Akyem South Constituency is not well developed, and that when given the mandate, the area will see speedy transformation. Mr. Amofa therefore appealed to the NPP delegates to vote massively for him in the coming party’s parliamentary primaries to bring the needed development to Asante Akyem South.
