Dr Sabastian Sandaare today inaugurates a skills development program at Fian

The MP for Daffiama-Bussie –Issa Dr Sabastian Sandaare today inaugurated a skills development program in the constituency to cater for youths that aren’t info to the formal education system.

The event took place in Fian, where beneficiaries took some sewing machines and hairdryers for use in their apprenticeship of interest skill.

The programme according to the structure is supposed to serve as skill acquisition training for the youth in the constituency, covering about eight communities for a start.

Kojokperi, Bussie, Fian, Ullo, Woggu, Daffiama, Issa and Tabiasi communities have been selected to benefit from the first face of the program. Each community is expected to benefit needy people will to learn a skill of choice.

The DBI NDC Constituency Youth Organizer Deme Desmond called on the beneficiaries to utilize the equipment to their own benefit.  He entreated the apprentices to take advantage of the resource to employ themselves in the future.

He, however, asked for a hand of applause to the MP for his good intentions for his people and charged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to impress Dr Sandaare to do more for their colloquies in the area.

Dressing the gathering, Hon. Sandaare described the Skills Development Initiative as a platform to enable the youth to acquire tools to learn a skill with the intention to have a self-employments in the future.

The Member of Parliament said the intentions of the programme create leaning centres in each community by harnessing the already skilled masters to train them.

‘’They would be aided to acquire tools to learn a trade in either dressmaking, hairdressing, carpentry or other vocations’’ he added.

He however assured that come December 2021 when his party assumes power, he would make the programme run compulsorily in the constituency. This he said emphatically.

‘’We know if we help the people at the community level, it will help reduce unemployment’ Dr Sabastian Sandare added.

The MP, however, explained that the program at the moment can’t be quantified as the launch marks the beginning of a process intended to help empower the youths.

He said aside the tools being purchased, an apprenticeship fee would also be paid by him to enable interested beneficiaries to study for free of charge.

He, however, promised to carter for all final year students in the district with safety and hygienic consumables in the prevention against COVID-19 during their BECE and WASSCE examinations.

In attendance are the NDC Constituency Chairman Mr Mouh Samba, Secretary Mr James Woor, The Finance secretary Mr Tabiasi Naa, Communication Officer Denis Andanban and his deputy Evans Gandiibu and another party leaders.
