I’m not behind Eric Amofa’s MP Bid! Lawyer Asante-Boateng Denies Allegations of Vote Splitting

The Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem South, Lawyer Kwaku Asante-Boateng has denied sponsoring the campaign of Mr. Eric Amofa, one of the five parliamentary aspirants in the NPP parliamentary race in the constituency for the purposes of splitting votes.

Lawyer Asante-Boateng who is seeking a third term mandate, described as mere propaganda and political immaturity for his opponents to accuse him of implanting Mr. Eric Amofa, a UK based financial analyst, UK based Qualified Social Worker and Deputy Branch Organizer NPP UK, to split votes for him in the Juaso zone in particular.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ModernGhana.Com, the incumbent MP said he does not have any link with Mr. Amofa from anywhere, has no social or biological relationship with him and has never had any interaction with him anywhere.

He indicated that the only time he met Mr. Amofa or had an encounter with him was when all the five aspirants met with the Asante Akyem South Constituency Executives of the NPP to discuss how they should conduct their campaign.

“That young man is not my friend! I don’t know him from anywhere! I don’t have the time and the resources to sponsor a candidate; and what impact is that going to make on my candidature? I don’t actually see any wisdom or any reason behind this allegation. It is absolutely not true”.

On the other hand, Lawyer Asante-Boateng touted most of his achievements within the last three years in particular ranging from educational infrastructure, water and sanitation, roads, electrification, health facilities, youth employment and educational sponsorship among others.

The MP who has received several media bashings for alleged non-performance in parliament and in the constituency, told ModernGhana.Com that under the able leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he had been able to deliver to the utmost admiration of his constituents, who are craving for his retention.

Lawyer Asante-Boateng said “even when you go to the Feeder Roads Offices, you will see that no MP in Ashanti Region has been able to lobby and gotten more road contracts than me. So far, I can count 13 different contracts for my constituency and the contractors are on the roads working”.

The former Constituency Chairman emphasized that there was no way he was not going to win again come 20th June, 2020 in spite of the ugly noise, propaganda and unsubstantiated allegations by his detractors.

The Asante Akyem South MP also denied the allegation that he was threatening to sack any delegate who would vote against him from their positions after the parliamentary primaries.

The Asante Akyem South NPP primaries will be one of the most competitive as strong other aspirants are contesting the incumbent MP, Lawyer Kwaku Asante-Boateng. The four are; Mr. Eric Amofa, NPP Deputy Organiser-UK and financial analyst, Mr. William Yamoah, a staff at the Office of the Vice President, Mr. Edmund Oppong-Peprah, Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University and Mr. Bice Obuor Osei Kuffuor, former President of MUSIGA.
