Upper East Regional Minister Presents 17 New Buses To Selected Schools

The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Tongoba Abayage has on behalf of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo presented seventeen (17) Mini air-conditioned buses to some selected Senior High /Technical Schools in the region.

The buses formed part of the first 100 school buses distributed last week by the NPP Government to all the 16 regions across the country.

Presenting the vehicles, Hon. Tongoba Abayage thanked the President for his commitment towards education in Ghana.

She said the Upper East Region is one of the smallest regions out of the 16 regions, yet 17 buses were given, this according to her demonstrates the commitment of the President towards the development of the region.  

Hon. Tangoba used the opportunity to assure the rest of the schools which did not benefit from the first 100 to remain calm as the Government makes efforts to cover them during the second batch of presentation.

The Regional Minister who doubles as Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of the Ruling New Patriotic Party for Navrongo Central charged the Headmasters/Mistresses to ensure that the buses are protected from the attack of some unruly students.

She equally advised the drivers to maintain the vehicles through checking of water and engine oils each morning before going out with the buses in order to prolong the life span of the buses.

Speaking on behalf the beneficiary schools, the Vice – Chairman of the Upper East Branch of Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools (CHASSS) Mr. Akumbas Richard of Zebilla Senior High/ Technical School, extended their profound gratitude through the Regional Minister to His Excellency the president for this massive support to the region.

He said some co- curriculum activities could have been hampered this year but with this great intervention, the region will be able to participate at all levels.

On behalf of his colleague Head Teachers, he assured the Regional Minister that they will work hand in hand with their drivers to prolong the life span of the buses through a regular maintenance.

He again assured the president that with this intervention they are more than poised to deliver on their mandate by turning the fortunate of educational delivery in the region around and asked his colleagues to pick up the pieces and run towards the goals.

The beneficiary schools include Bolgatanga Girls Secondary School, Mirigu SHS, Saint John’s Integrated SHS, Binduri Community Day SHS, Ganbibgo Community Day SHS, Notre Dame Minor Seminary School.

The rest are Tongo SHTS, Zamse SHTS, Nabango SHTS, Fumbisi Agric SHS, Sandema SHS, Sandema SHTS, Our Lady of Lourdes Girls SHS, Navrongo SHS, Kusanaba SHS, Tempane SHS and Zebilla SHTS.
