Baptist Convention Donates Towards '1,000 Wheelchairs Per Region' Campaign By Henry Djaba Foundation

The Ghana Baptist Convention has taken the lead to donate towards the 1000 wheelchairs per region campaign by the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation.

The Convention led by its President, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu Gyamfi at a short ceremony  presented 4 wheelchairs; 4 Walkers; 2 Armpit Clutches, and 3 Elbow Clutches in support of the campaign.

According to Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu Gyamfi, the donation was in response to a request by the management of the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation to raise a minimum of 16,000 wheelchairs and walking aids to assist persons with disability in Ghana.

The items was secured by the GBC through the efforts of Mrs Amerley Ollennu Awua-Asamoah, Ghana’s Ambassador to Denmark from the Global Medical Aid in Denmark.
     The Ghana Ambassador to Denmark has since 2018, secured hospital equipment and consumables in excess of $6 million from the Global Medical Aid.
     Beneficiaries of the equipments include some District and Municipal Hospitals through the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo's Foundation, the Wenchi and Tetteh Quashie  Hospitals and all Ghana Baptist Convention Hospitals.

He commended the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation for coming out with such a laudable initiative to assist persons who are physically challenged to become mobile and to reduce their dependency on other members of the society. Rev. Dr. Adu-Gyamfi assured the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation of Ghana Baptist Convention's continuous support in their quest to making life more dignified for the persons with disability.

The items were received by the Executive Director of the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation, Dr. Otiko Afisah Djaba. 

She expressed her gratitude to the Ghana Baptist Convention for their swift response to their request.

Dr. Otiko Afisah Djaba said that she would stop at nothing in raising the targeted 16,000 wheelchairs to aid the persons who are physically challenged . She said that all persons with disability are also citizens of Ghana and must be respected and cared for irrespective of their social or economic background.

Dr. Otiko Afisah Djaba who appealed to the Ghana Baptist Convention for more support called on other faith-based organisations, donor organisations and individuals to support the 1000 wheelchairs per region campaign.

The Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation has lined up the following activities towards the campaign: Tuesday , 20th October 2020 - Press Conference, Saturday, 24th October 2020 - Wheelchair route March and walk and Tuesday, 3rd November 2020 - main campaign launch.
