Send More Legal Brains To Parliament -Governance Expert Urges Political Parties

The Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Dr. Eric Oduro-Osae has called on political parties to reserve certain constituencies for persons with law background to contest as parliamentary candidates. 



According to the Governance Expert, the quality of input by some MPs in the law making House undoubtedly leaves much to be desired.



Speaking in an interview with WatchGhana.Com's Correspondent in Ashanti Region, Bernadette Ofori, 

Dr. Oduro-Osae said that the calibre of people fielded by the various political parties as candidates must be a major concern to all Ghanaians. 



He observed that, the call for the institutionalisation of career lawmakers into parliament as MPs will help improve the overall performance of the legislature in the country.



Dr. Oduro-Osae suggested that, the government could make use of the Parliamentary Service Training Center to raise the standard of the MPs going forward.



Already, there have been several concerns raised about the performance of majority of MPs in Ghana's parliament over the years.  



Due to their lack of understanding of the business of the House, some MPs in Ghana barely speak or contribute to serious parliamentary proceedings.
