John Mahama Was Right To Call Martin Amidu Stupid - Kennedy Agyapong

The Member of Parliament for Asin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has explained why it was justified for Mr. John Dramani Mahama, leader of the opposition NDC to describe the behavior of the embattled Ghana’s Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu as "stupid".

According to him, he fully endorses the verbal attack on Martin Amidu by the former President and NDC Flagbearer.

Kennedy Agyapong's outburst follows a letter issued by Mr. Amidu to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announcing his resignation as Special Prosecutor, and accusing the President of trampling on his independence.

Speaking on the Seat Show on Net2 TV, Mr. Agyapong who strongly opposed the appointment of Martin Amidu in 2018 said he knew from day one that he would fail President Akufo-Addo and the people of Ghana.

"I said it in 2018 that Martin Amidu cannot be trust...he is like a wounded lion who doesn't care to devour his owner".

Mr. Agyapong revealed that the MP for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga once told him about how Mr. Amidu “was sent for mental stability test in Germany some time ago; and thus warned the NPP not to celebrate his appointment yet.”

He said from the very beginning he knew Martin Amidu was "wicked, ingrate and could not be trusted" considering how he had treated his own party, NDC in all the positions he had held previously.

The former Attorney General and Minister of Justice wrote to the President Nana Akufo-Addo on Monday 16th November, 2020 announcing his decision to resign as Special Prosecutor to enable Government “to take steps to appoint a replacement to that position as required by law.”

“I should not ordinarily be announcing my resignation to the public myself but the traumatic experience I went through from October 20, 2020, to November 2, 2020, when I conveyed in a 13-page letter the conclusions and observations on the analysis of the risk of corruption and anti-corruption assessment on the Report On Agyapa Royalties Limited Transactions and Other Matters Related Thereto to the President as Chairman of the National Security Council cautions against not bringing my resignation as the Special Prosecutor with immediate to the notice of the Ghanaian public and the world,” Mr Amidu said.
