CONFIRMED: NDC Takes EC To Court On December 29 Over Election Results - Lawyer Amaliba

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be in Court to challenge the 2020 election results announced by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

According to Mr. Abraham Amaliba, one of the lead counsels of the NDC, the party has gathered all the  necessary evidences and was ready to send the EC to court on 29th December 2020 to challenge the presidential and 5 parliamentary results including Hohoe and Techiman South Constituencies.

Speaking on JoyNews Channel Am Show with Mamavi, Mr. Amaliba said the evidences available to the opposition party indicated that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo did not win the 2020 presidential election.

The party therefore expects the EC Chairperson Jean Mensa to annul the initial verdict and rather declare Mr. John Dramani Mahama as winner of the 2020 election or meet them in the Supreme Court on 29th December.

He noted that the NDC will also request for the auditing of all the electoral materials in Court.

Lawyer Amaliba said that the party had done its independent auditing of all the pink sheets, and also gathered ample evidence to face the EC in court.

He disclosed that NDC on the other hand went to court to seek an injunction to restrain Mr. Peter Amewu from holding himself as MP-Elect for Hohoe.

But Lawyer Amaliba alleged that the bailiff sent to dispatch the injunction notice was beaten by Mr. Peter Amewuand his boys, an allegation he failed to substantiate after several insistence from the host.

The NDC Lawyer said the party would ensure a criminal charge is pressed against Mr. Amewu over the alleged assault and that legal assistants would be provided to the Bailiff when the matter goes to court.
