Police Arrests 5 Students Over Death of A Schoolmate

Five Form Two students of the Konongo Odumasi Senior High School (KOSS) in the Asante Akyem South District in the Ashanti Region are in police custody over the death of a form one student, Larhan Sam-una who was allegedly stabbed by some senior boys for refusing to be bullied.


The suspects, all being Form Two students who are alleged to have taken part in the act that led to the death of Sam-una last Friday at the Konongo Government Hospital.

The Konongo District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. Adu Agyemang Duah who confirmed the arrest to the media, said at 9:50pm last Friday, the Assistant Headmaster of KOSS, Mr. David Kwabena Asare, assisted by the Konongo Divisional Police Task Force, arrested two of the suspects, including the one who had allegedly stabbed Sam-una. And the other three suspects were later mentioned and arrested, bringing the number of suspects to five.


The DSP Mr. Duah said the bloodstained knife together with the blood-soaked outfit of the deceased had been retrieved and are in the police custody, while the body had been deposited at the Stewards Hospital Mortuary at Yaw Kwei near Konongo.


As part of the measures to prevent similar attacks in the school, the police would patrol the school and keep some officers on the campus.
