The Chiefs and people of Upper Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region have heaved a sigh of relief because their deplorable roads that have been a worry to them for so many years are being worked on. The reshaping work has started and steadily ongoing.
It would be recalled that members of some seven farming communities in the district organized a communal labour to weed the arms of about forteen point five (14.5) kilometer Asesewa - Akorkormasisi road to help make it quite motorable and visible to its users. That stretch was part of the 24 kilometer road under construction but was abandoned by the contractor long ago.
During the communal labour, the people lamented that they go through a lot of difficultg ties getting their farm produce to the market centers and sending their sick to the Asesewa Government Hospital for medical care. A situation that leads to the continues high post harvest lost, charging of exorbitant transport fares and decline in healthcare deliveries.
As a result of this, the residents appealed to the government to as a matter of urgency bring back the contractor on site or re-award it. They also charged the DCE Joe Sam to put some interim measures in place to make the roads accessible for them. Barely a month after the appeal, the DCE has swiftly responded to the cry of the people by sending graders on the roads to work. He recounted the appeal made to him adding that all the roads in the district would be tackled. Some residents and road users expressed gratitude to the DCE for his timely intervention, saying the reshaping of the roads is a relief to them.
