Apostle Nana Ofori Attributes Youth Social Vices to Unemployment, Calls for Urgent Job Creation

A retired Apostle of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Nana Ofori, has linked the alarming surge in social vices among the Ghanaian youth to the growing rate of unemployment and increasing school dropouts.

Speaking in an interview during the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Kings Assembly of the Church of Pentecost in the Sunyani Industrial Estate District, Apostle Ofori expressed deep concern over the current trend of indiscipline, substance abuse, cyber fraud, and other deviant behaviors that have become prevalent among young people.

According to the retired clergyman, the absence of sustainable job opportunities has left many young people idle and vulnerable to negative influences. “When the youth have nothing meaningful to do with their lives, they become easy prey to social vices,” he said.

Apostle Ofori emphasized the urgent need for deliberate, coordinated efforts by government, the private sector, and faith-based organizations to address youth unemployment in Ghana. He stressed that creating job avenues and vocational training programs could play a pivotal role in curbing the growing menace.

“This is not just an economic issue—it’s a moral and spiritual concern as well. We cannot preach righteousness to hungry youth with no hope. We must empower them with the means to work and live in dignity,” he added.

The 10th Anniversary of the Kings Assembly was marked with a special thanksgiving service attended by members of the church, local leaders, and invited guests, under the theme of spiritual growth and community development.
