PJA Ghana Mourns Asantehemaa Mother of the Golden Stool

The Private Journalists Association (PJA) - Ghana, led by its National President, Mr. Edmond Gyebi has joined the people of Asanteman and the entire nation in mourning the passing of the revered Asantehemaa, mother of the Golden Stool and symbol of maternal authority in the Ashanti Kingdom.

In a statement steeped in deep sorrow and respect, the Association described the Asantehemaa as “a sacred mother whose wisdom, compassion, and guardianship of tradition will remain a shining legacy in the annals of Ghana’s history.”

According to Mr. Gyebi, the death of the Asantehemaa is “not just the loss of a Queen Mother, but the departure of a cultural matriarch whose presence bound generations together. She was a vessel of peace, the heartbeat of Asanteman, and the protective mother of the Golden Stool, whose guidance nurtured kings and inspired subjects.”

The Association further noted that the Asantehemaa’s role in preserving Ashanti traditions, empowering women, and fostering unity within and beyond Asanteman, has left behind an indelible legacy.

“In this dark hour, the PJA - Ghana stands in solidarity with His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Ashanti Royal Family, and the people of Asanteman. We pray that the spirits of our ancestors guide and comfort the Kingdom in its mourning. May her soul find peaceful rest in the bosom of the Almighty,” the statement added.

The PJA also called on all Ghanaians to honour the memory of the late Asantehemaa by embracing peace, unity, and reverence for Ghana’s traditional institutions, which she so proudly upheld.
