Residents of Penkwase, a suburb of Sunyani, were thrown into shock on Saturday, October 25, 2025, when a 43-year-old woman, identified as Cynthia Boahemaa, was found hanging dead in her single-room apartment.
According to a police statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, the incident was reported by Hayford Nkansah and Adobea Eunice, both co-tenants of the deceased.
Upon receiving the report, police officers proceeded to the scene, where they discovered the lifeless body of Boahemaa hanging from a crossbar in her room. She was dressed in a white straight dress, with a piece of cloth tied around her neck. Blood was seen oozing from her nostrils, staining her body and the floor beneath her.
The police team inspected the body and later conveyed it to the Sunyani Regional Teaching Hospital, where she was examined and confirmed death.
The body has since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The Bono Regional Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances leading to the unnatural death.
