A 27-year-old pregnant woman, Nyorkpatey Haggar, has been found murdered on her farm at Yaw Wusukrom, near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region. Her throat was slashed with a sharp object at the time her body was found.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on Thursday, November 6, 2025, when the victim, who was seven months pregnant, left home around 8:30 a.m. to her farm and did not return.
Her relative, Asante Charles, 57, who lodged the complaint, told the police that after several hours of waiting, a search party was organized. Tragically, Haggar was discovered lying motionless on her farm in a pool of blood.
Police officers who visited the scene found the deceased dressed in a multi-coloured outfit with blue trousers bearing white stripes. Preliminary investigations revealed a gruesome scene — her throat had been slashed with a sharp object, and blood clots were found in her mouth and ear canal, while foamy blood covered her neck area, suggesting a violent attack.
The body has since been deposited at the Dormaa Ahenkro Traditional Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, the police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive behind the murder and bring those responsible to justice.
Authorities have also appealed to the public for any information that could assist in tracking down the suspects, assuring residents of their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the area.
