Ahafo Police Launch Region-Wide Road Safety Sensitization to Tackle Rising Accidents

The Ghana Police Service in the Ahafo Region has rolled out a comprehensive road safety sensitization campaign aimed at reducing crashes and promoting responsible road use across the region. The initiative is expected to engage drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians and all categories of road users on safe practices and strict adherence to traffic regulations.

The programme, being carried out in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Road Safety Authority and the Ghana Ambulance Service, is designed to curb the growing incidents of reckless driving and ensure that communities across the region experience safer road environments. Key focus areas will include the importance of wearing helmets, compulsory seatbelt usage, adherence to speed limits and the need for disciplined and cautious driving.

According to an official police wireless message signed by Superintendent Mr. Daniel Ekow Gaisie, Ahafo Regional Commander of the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (RMTTD), the sensitization exercise will be conducted in phases across the districts.

Activities in Bechem, Dwamena Nkwanta and Yamfo will run from November 13 to November 19, 2025. The team will then move to Kenyasi, Hwidiem and Ntotroso from November 20 to November 26, followed by engagements in Sankore and Kukuom from November 27 to December 1, 2025.

The operations will continue in Mim and Kasapin from December 2 to December 10, before concluding with the final phase in Ayomso and Goaso from December 11 to December 17.

District commanders across the Ahafo Region have been directed to liaise with transport unions and stakeholders to secure venues and mobilise participants for the exercise.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ahafo Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Kwadwo Boakye told WatchGhana.Com that the sensitization drive forms part of a renewed commitment by the police to safeguarding lives as the festive season approaches. He said that the period is often associated with increased road traffic incidents, hence the need to remind the public about the Dos and Don'ts.
